In using the Accelerated Literacy pedagogy you will be well prepared to implement the Australian Curriculum English. The Australian Curriculum English is based on the same social view of language, developed by M.A.K. Halliday, that underpins AL pedagogy. It has three strands: Language, Literacy and Literature; and you can teach Language and Literacy through the Literature strand. In other words, the curriculum allows you to teach knowledge about language and literacy through the analysis and composing of real texts. This is completely consistent with the Accelerated LItearcy strategies. When you plan to teach a particular text, make sure you align your learning goals with the indicators and achievement standards for each year level. You can also align the way you reconceptualise your points of discussion with the curriculum standards.
Although English is the foundation subject for teaching literacy, you can also use AL strategies across all subject areas.
