Accelerated Literacy Practitioners' Association Australia

Happy 20th anniversary to scaffolded literacy

From Wendy Cowey:

As I walked around Alice Springs two weeks ago, I realised with interest, that it was 20 years ago this month that the Scaffolding Literacy Program first ventured into the Pitjanjatjara Lands to interest teachers in those schools in the program that has since become Accelerated Literacy. I had never been to Alice Springs before and it was was hot and dry, just as it was on March 20th this year. We had been funded by the 'What Works' program and here we are 20 years later, still devoting our energy to the important work of teaching students to read. Well done everyone.

And from the ALPAA community, thanks Wendy and Brian for what you did, and for your insight and perseverence. You have influenced the learning outcomes of thousands of students, and the professional quality of hundreds of teachers. Thank you.
