From Brian Gray, Sunday: Our cognition is encoded via emotion and internal physical responding to our experiences. These emotional/somatic processes encode and facilitate (or hinder and distort) the learning that occurs in the classroom. When we humiliate learners we distort and hinder their learning. And we destroy their sense of self as a learner. As teachers we have immense power over learners - power that is often severely underestimated in the literature about teaching and learning processes.
