The South Australian Accelerated Literacy Program developed a number of Fact Sheets for their schools. As well as describing the professional learning pathway, and clarifying the roles of consultants, teachers and the school principal in ensuring a quality program, three fact sheets might be of use to other AL practitioners. The first is the SAALP Effective Schools rubric. It was used as a self-evaluation tool by school staff each year to assess the quality of school AL pedagogy implementation. It helps teachers to identify what is going well, and areas that might need work.
The other two fact sheets, 'Why use AL pedagogy', and 'AL in a balanced literacy program' address the frequently asked questions of how AL fits into a school literacy program. It is not everything. It is the solid foundation from which eveything else is launched.
Check out these fact sheets in 'Other Resources' under the Resources Tab in the menu. ALPAA members are welcome to use all or parts of these fact sheets with acknowledgement.
